The ICOM IC-FR5300 represents the next generation of IDAS™ Repeaters, offering compatibility with the original IC-FR5000 series while introducing a fresh CPU/FPGA platform. These repeaters are designed to provide digital simulcast system capability, boasting high-frequency stability. The series is scalable, allowing for easy upgrades with the optional UC-FR5300 Network/controller board and accompanying software. Users can expand from a single site to a simulcast system or even a multi-site trunking system. Additionally, the IC-FR5300 series offers features like a programmable D-SUB 25-pin accessory connector, 50W output at a 50% duty cycle, and the ability to install two RF modules in one chassis.

The IC-FR5300 is capable of receiving both analog and digital modes on a single channel. The repeater comes with a 12-digit alphanumeric display, 32 memory channels, and an internal speaker, making it suitable for use as a simple base station or for monitoring repeater activity. For remote maintenance, the series can be connected to an IP network, enabling programming and IP address settings from distant locations.
