An Arts & Crafts English Oak desk, made by Liberty & Co. to a design by Leonard Wyburd (1865-1958). A very striking and unusual design by this iconic interior designer and furniture designer, providing an exceptional stylish work area with plenty of room for storage, featuring:
  • Made in English Oak
  • Hinged top revealing three compartments
  • Central compartment with leather-mounted drop-down slope revealing pigeon holes and a drawer
  • Single drawer with heart shaped escutcheon (made with single plank front, solid drawer carcass joined with hand-cut lap and through dovetails and solid base)
  • Open compartment and hinged lower door with single plank fielded panel surrounded by rails and stiles joined by through tenons
  • Shelves to both ends
  • Handmade wrought hinges and handles
  • Natural oil based finish

Condition

Very good condition with tight joints, snugly closing doors, smoothly sliding drawer, free from woodworm and good colour. Leather pad a little worn, keys not present, some ink marks in the pigeon holes.
