Autumn 2024, examining recently excavated papyrus fragments in Cairo. The upper sections contained perfectly structured hieroglyphs and text, but the bottom rows were worn away, with words crumbling into isolated scratches and the margins dissolving entirely.

The technique of establishing a unified grid for the top and then deliberately breaking the framing lines and varying the size of the blocks in the lower third—while maintaining the energetic, scratched texture inside each fragment—was inspired by that sense of losing history to time.
