A note about 316 stainless steel: surgical grade 316L stainless steel that is ion plated to achieve a silver or gold color finish. 316L stainless steel contains approximately 10% nickel, but bound so that it releases no nickel ions onto the skin, and is hypoallergenic rather than nickel free. Therefore it is safe for most nickel-sensitive wearers.
