The Hioki LR8450 Memory HiLogger is a portable, modular multi-channel data logger built around your choice of plug-in and wireless measurement units. It is offered in two models: the Standard Model LR8450, designed for use with plug-in units only, and the Wireless LAN Model LR8450-01, which adds support for wireless units. A single logger can record voltage, temperature (thermocouple and RTD), humidity, resistance, and strain, gathering all of those signals into one synchronized time sequence.
The LR8450 is applied across a range of measurement tasks. It is used for voltage measurement of pressure-sensor and vibration-sensor outputs at up to a 1 ms sampling rate, for battery temperature-rise monitoring, automotive part temperature measurement, and road testing of automobiles. It is used to measure temperature near inverters and batteries, to test hydraulic equipment, and for strain measurement on pipes, aircraft wings, brakes, and the stress and load on moving parts. With wireless units, strain gages can be placed close to the measurement point so that the long, thin gage wires that are prone to breakage are kept short.
ValueTronics stocks and holds its own inventory in a 20,000 square-foot secure warehouse at 1675 Cambridge Drive in Elgin, Illinois, so the instruments we list are equipment we keep on hand. That combination lets engineers source a configured LR8450 logger with confidence in both its condition and its availability.
The Memory HiLogger LR8450 family is offered in two models that share the same instrument platform, display, and measurement-unit ecosystem. The Standard Model LR8450 is designed for use with plug-in units only, while the Wireless LAN Model LR8450-01 adds the ability to connect wireless measurement units in addition to plug-in units.
Both models accept the same plug-in measurement units and the same SD/USB storage, drive the same 7-inch color display, and provide the same LAN, USB, pulse, alarm, and voltage-output interfaces. The choice between them is driven by whether wireless measurement units and wireless LAN connectivity are needed for the application.
Each model below is its own dedicated product page with condition-matched pricing. Select the new LR8450 or LR8450-01 configuration that matches your required channel count and connectivity, and review that page for its specific availability and price.
The two models differ in connectivity and maximum channel count. The Standard LR8450 connects up to four plug-in units for as many as 120 channels. The LR8450-01 adds support for up to seven wireless units, which can be mixed with plug-in units for a maximum of 330 channels, and it includes a wireless LAN interface (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) with access point and station modes that the Standard model does not provide.
Beyond connectivity, the LR8450-01 introduces wireless-specific behavior: each wireless unit carries its own buffer memory for data retention during communication dropouts, and the logger periodically corrects the sampling-timing shift between mixed wireless and plug-in units. See the comparison table that follows for the per-model channel maximums and interface differences.
| Model | Channels | Max Sampling Rate | Measurement Target |

Important: The LR8450 and LR8450-01 cannot perform measurement on their own; one or more plug-in units or wireless units are required (sold separately).
Important: The LR8450-01 and each wireless unit emit radio waves. Use of radio waves is subject to licensing requirements in certain countries. Using it in a country or region other than those indicated may violate the law and may result in legal penalties for the operator. For the latest information about supported countries and regions, please visit the Hioki website.
Important: Always use HIOKI optional storage media. Proper operation is not guaranteed when using storage media from other manufacturers, and may prevent the product from saving and loading data properly.
Important: Even in good wireless communication conditions (low interference), the sampling-timing between wireless devices may shift about 20 ms; in bad wireless conditions the shift will be much worse.
Important: The wireless unit buffer memory holds up to 5 min. of measurement data during a communications interruption; however, data collected using the Logger Utility software measurement cannot be restored in this manner.
Usage tip: pair the logger with HIOKI optional storage media (SD memory cards Z4001 or Z4003, or USB drive Z4006), as guaranteed save/load operation is specified with HIOKI media.
Important: Channels are isolated from each other with semiconductor relays. Never allow a voltage exceeding the product specifications (for example a lightning surge) to be applied across channels, as doing so may cause the semiconductor relays to short.
Important: Z3230 Wireless LAN Adapter: the LR8450/LR8450-01 instrument takes two adapters; each wireless unit takes one.
Recommended pairing: humidity measurement uses the HIOKI Z2000 Humidity Sensor together with the U8550, U8551, U8552, or LR8531 units.
