This authentic slice of the Talsint mesosiderite meteorite originates from the famous fall site near Talsint in Eastern Morocco (32.5940°N, 3.4475°W). Mesosiderites are rare stony-iron meteorites composed of a unique mixture of silicate minerals and metallic iron-nickel.
The polished surface reveals the characteristic brecciated mesosiderite texture where silicate clasts are embedded in a fine-grained metallic matrix. Visible minerals include low-Ca pyroxene and plagioclase together with iron-nickel metal phases such as kamacite and taenite.
Mesosiderites are believed to have formed through large asteroid collisions early in the history of the Solar System, mixing crustal rock with metallic core material.
